relativity and duality

It may require extra effort from you to make the same choices others make. But if you want to be the person that you want to be, it is all worth it.

You cannot experience yourself as what you are until you have encountered what you are not.

For all of life exists as a tool of your own creation, and all of its events merely present themselves as opportunities for you to decide, and be, Who You Are.

The more we know we don't know, the more we know we know..
This scene came back to me just now when i was jogging.. When i was young, there were a few times when my dad asked me to help out at his fruit shop. And during most of the time, my dad expect me to know what i don't know.. And I'll just rebutt back, " I don't even know what i don't know! How do you expect me to know what i know?" .... :8

Knowing, experiencing and being = that which gives rise to, that which is risen, that which is...

It is your soul's only desire to turn its grandest concept about itself into its grandest experience. Until concept becomes experience, all there is speculation.

Each soul is a Master - though some do not remember their origins or their heritages. Yet each creates the situation and the circumstance for it's own highest purpose and its own quickest remembering - in each moment called now.

Envy not success, not pity failure, for you know not what is success or failure in the soul's reckoning. Call not a thing calamity, nor joyous event, until you decide or witness, how it is used. For is a death a calamity if it saves the lives of thousands? And is a life a joyous event if it has caused nothing but grief? Yet even this you should not judge, but keep your own counsel, and allow others theirs. This does not mean ignoring a call for help, nor the urging of your own soul to work toward the change of some circumstance or condition. It does mean avoiding labels and judgement what you do whatever you do.

Seek then to create change not because a thing is wrong, but because it no longer makes an accurate statement of Who You Are.

You cannot change the outer event (for that has been created by the lot of you, and you are not grown enough in your consciousness to alter individually that which has been created collectively), so you must change the inner experience.

Pain results from a judgement you have made about a thing. Remove the judgement and the pain disappears.

affirmation

I crave for affirmation from other people. I do not think that my own affirmation would be good enough for myself... Is there any way that i can make mine good enough for myself?

spoon

"Some are born with a silver spoon.. Or a golden spoon.. or even a diamond spoon. We should be contented that we have a spoon, because there are some who eat with their hands..."
--- Quoted from Charlie.

The intent of this message is not to offend or hurt anyone, but to remind us to appreciate what we have.

love yourself today

People who love themselves, are more able to love others. So self-centered people have better relationships.....? True? ...

... True :o

How should I love myself?

... Hmmm... If I were to treat myself as someone I love... I would..

  • listen to what i have to say, be attentive to myself.

  • give myself surprises from time to time..

  • treat myself to something good once in a while..

  • buy gifts for myself once in a while...

  • touch and hug myself once in a while... :p haha..

  • spend quality time with myself...

I snap at people when i'm higher... :p

your choice

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!

You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?'

He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood

I choose to be in a good mood.'

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested.

'Yes, it is,' he said. 'Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life.'

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?'

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,' he replied. 'Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live.'

'Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?' I asked

He continued, '..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action.'

'What did you do?' I asked.

'Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,' said John. 'She asked if I was allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied.' The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity'.'

Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude... I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything .

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.'

process

It's not the start or the end that matters. It is the process... It is whether we do our best and how much we enjoy doing it.. But we cannot be too obsessed with it or get too attached to it.. We just have to remember to let ourselves enjoy every moment :o

i believe

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold

I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

i just realized something.. shouldn't it be "forgiveness is the key to happiness"?

Affirmation (Savage Garden) - Savage Garden

rem to listen

"These days, bolder is better." ... :p

One of my illusions was shattered yesterday when i brought es, mj, zl, jo to this place at roxy square. I kept raving about the fried rice it serves, right until the moment we had a taste of it. Then i still tried to support what i said beforehand, but even i wasn't convinced by what came out of my mouth... :p jo even said that she could cook a better dish of fried rice even though she seldom cooks :s ... I thank es, mj, zl, jo for being so truthful to me....... :p

But luckily, we walked past this prawn noodles shop which jr, mj and me talked about a long time ago. And so.. we entered :o

I want to thank kim, my previous 2 star kayak course instructor for going out onto the river to get us back when the rainstorm was approaching. The lightning was super scary la.... but it was damn exhilarating :p We could see a few striking some of the tall buildings around us... If anyone wants to get a 1 star or 2 star kayaking certificate, you could get his number from me and you could arrange a date with him to attend the course. But there must be a minimum number of people before the course could be held.. maybe around 8. His courses would be held at Kallang, at the Singapore Canoe Federation (i think this name might be wrong..), along the Singapore River.

“朋友有保护朋友的责任,却也要为自己说出口的话负责任。“ - quoted from "my paper".
Yeap.. I think we must take responsibility for what we say, for it might influence the thinking of anybody...
For every action, there is definitely a consequence. Sometimes it may not be very obvious, but we must remember that it is there.

As we absorb more knowledge, we think that there is lesser space for more.. And most of us will not hold the same attitude for learning as before.. Actually, there is no limit and end. I think, we don't actually hold all the knowledge in our brains.. Maybe our brains are just partitions of a bigger harddisk.. and they have limited capacities. Some information will be kept in our brains indefinitely, while some will just flow out. Out of those that are kept in our brains, some can be easily accessed, while some can be hidden in sub-sub-sub folders. Anyway, I just want to say that, we can keep on learning. New information allows us to experience more, and also allows us more choices of which knowledge to store. This enables us to be more sure of ourselves, and to be more comfortable with ourselves.

humility lesson

I went Sentosa on Saturday again :o

And today, I went kayaking. It's a good thing that quite a few people were late, because if we had reached early, we would have been stuck in the thunderstorm for a longer period of time as we would have rowed to somewhere further away from the pier.

I kinda hope that i will get sick.... :p I'm a slacker!!

I have to remind myself that learning is a continuous process. There's no such thing as enough for it. I have to remind myself to be humble, to know that i do not know.

Power is nothing without control.

... I want discipline back in my life... I haven't exercised in a wk :s
