I think a lot of us go for things that we can't have, rather than what we really want...
Everything is good for us, everything is bad for us...
For example, we might not be able to get on the bus that we're rushing for. If we do manage to get on the bus, there's a possibility that we might see someone that we don't want to see, or we might get into an argument with someone else on board, or someone very disgusting might sit next to you on the bus for the whole journey... :s, etc... Another example would be when we can't be with the person we want to be with. Things might not turn out well in the end. Why don't we see the smaller portion of food served to us as an opportunity to lose weight instead of complaining that it's not enough? Why don't we just see the good that might have came out of the seemingly bad situation?
Positive feelings will generate even more positive feelings, and this goes the same for negative feelings.

Makes sense na.. But, most of the time when a situation occurs (which we attribute a negative meaning to it), we tend to focus on the unpleasant part first. After the situation cools off, it is then we are able to see the goodness within (if we manage to). I think it takes a super motivated soul to be able to see the goodness in everything. For instance, I failed a module once before, and because of that, I got to know a friend who became closer to me than anybody in the world. So I always say, I did not regret failing that module. Ha~ =P
