I was having a short chat with ys on a short walk to 7-11 just now when we touched on the topic regarding common interests or rather, couples being in the same "league". I think, some couples would have preferred that their partner is doing what they are doing... as in, studying or working. My opinion is that, the reason why they would prefer this, is because they can talk about issues that they know about = They are only interested in their own things. If their partner talks about things which are unrelated to what they know, they would not be interested. And once time passes, their partner will not only be uninterested in the things they say, they will also be uninterested in them... :s This is what I feel about how some people behave.
If most of the time, both parties are genuinely interested in the other, instead of themselves, they would enjoy their relationship more...

Makes sense.
We all have personal needs in life. When we are able to place relationship needs on the primary platform and do not mind placing our personal needs on a secondary platform, we are ready for a relationship.
Then again, this does not mean neglecting all personal needs. We are talking about 2 individuals with totally different life experiences coming together. Compromise.
